Ages served?
Our summer camps serve ages eight through eighteen. Camps are offered by completed grade level groups of 3rd - 5th, 6th - 8th, and 9th - 12th.
Are camps eligible for Dependent Care FSA?
Yes, our camps meet the minimum requirements for Dependent Care FSAs (DCFSA). For more information on DCFSAs refer to the government website fsafeds.com.
Can I register my child for a camp outside the designated grade/age range?
Camps have been designed with age appropriate academic and social/emotional content. Eligibility is determined by the grade a student completed in June of the current year. Example: Jo exited 5th grade in June, therefore Jo would enroll in a camp designated for 3rd-5th graders.
Can kids be paired up in camp?
We do not guarantee student placement together, but we will do our best to accommodate such requests where it makes sense to the camp experience.
Do you have a waitlist if a camp is full?
YES! If a camp is full at the time of registration, you can add your camper to the waitlist. If an opening occurs, we will notify you by email. Openings only occur if someone transfers camps or cancels their registration.
Once notified via email, the first person on the waitlist will have 24 hours to confirm their registration acceptance for the camp before the next email is sent to the next person on the waitlist.
Do you have other youth programs during the year?
Discovery Academy intends to offer additional programming throughout the year in the future. Please check back for updates!
Do you offer a multi-camp* or camp buddy* discount?
Yes! If you will be signing up for more than one camp this summer, please call us at 253-333-6030 to register and receive 10% off.
We cannot apply the discount post registration. This discount of 10% can be combined with other offers for a maximum discount of 20%.
*Multi-camp: One camper signed up for 2+ camps this summer.
*Camp Buddy: 2 or more campers registering for the same camp this summer
How many kids will be in each camp?
Our camps are limited to 20 students per session with a 10 to 1 ratio of students to adults.
In case of an emergency, how can I connect with camp staff during the week?
CE staff are available at 253-333-6030 to assist you Monday - Friday for the duration of the camp day in July and August. The rest of the year staff are available Monday - Friday 8am to 4:00pm.
Special accommodations?
Students should be able to participate in activities with minimal intervention. Any one-on-one support, or accommadations should be provided by the parent. Due to our space limitations, if one-on-one support is needed, it will require an additional registration to accomodate an extra participant.
What is the cancellation policy?
Requests for withdrawal from camp must be made at least 21 days prior to the camp start date to receive a full refund. Any registration cancelled with less than three weeks’ notice will forfeit the full cost of the camp session.
Please keep sick children at home. If your child becomes or shows symptoms of illness during the camp day, guardians will be notified and required to collect their child to reduce the risk of spreading illness to other campers, and no refund will be available for the remainder of the camp. If your child becomes sick after our cancellation window and before the first day of camp and you must cancel, we will provide a 50% refund upon written request.
What is the drop off & pick up policy?
Drop-Off: The earliest drop off time that the college will accept is 8am at designated locations. Camp day activities will officially begin at 9am. Campers arriving after 9am are at risk of missing transportation to the camp location and missing camp that day.
Pick-Up: A child who is picked up late can get anxious, and counselors who have worked a full day need to be able to count on leaving their job promptly. Being on time is a significant contributor to the job satisfaction of all of our counselors and the happiness of our children. Campers should be picked up no later than 4:30pm at designated locations. If a parent is late to pick-up a fee will be assessed prior to signing out that day.
What is the duration of camp?
The actual camp day is from 9am to 4pm at Highline and Green River Main campus locations. Camps for ceramics
What should I bring to camp?
Students will need to bring a sack lunch and comfortable clothes-- including a sweater or light jacket for outdoor activities.
What should be left at home?
Let's make this learning experience fun and focused by leaving distractions at home. Do not send valuables or toys to camp with your student.
